Hinamatsuri Japanese girls event
Hinamatsuri, it`s mean doll's event of praying for girls's growth and happiness.
Hiamatsuri day is each year on March 3rd.
There is a custom which displays dolls. Staring to display dolls is Feb 18th that is called "Usui". Usui is season of melting snow and changing to water.
People display a set of dolls in beautiful ancient court costumes of the Heian era on a tier of 5 or 7 shelves.
* Period of Heian era is A.C.794 - A.C.1185.
People believed that the dolls protected their daughters from sickness or ill-fortune.
I went to Azuchi that is famous for Ohmi-syonin. Ohmi-syonin were the wealthy merchant who played an active part from Kamakura era to Showa Period.
* Period of Kamakura era is A.C.1192-1333.
* Showa period is A.C.1926-1989.
They had had luxury dolls for Hinamatsuri. Today, the dolls are designated as Important Intangible Cultural Property in order to protect them.
